Georgie's Tongue

I don't have my phone on at work. It's just not the done thing at my new job. Well.... I have it on (because it use it as a calculator and stuff) but the ringer is off. Everyone who might feel the need to call me in the day knows this. School know to call Hubby not me, my parents know to call me in the evenings, and Hubby knows that - at a push - he can call me at lunch time or simply text me. So when I pick up my phone half an hour before lunch time and see two missed called and a voicemail from Hubs I immediately think "this must be pretty important. I'd better call him back sharpish." So without bothering with the voicemail I ring him back. And a nurse answers. "Helloooo I'm nurse such-a-body and everything's OK, don't worry, we're taking good care of him and everything's going to be fine!" Only I haven't even said anything yet and I have no idea who he is taking about. Hubby? One of the kids? WHO?!?! So I splutter a bit and as

Cubs go Climbing at Hutton Roof

Had a cracking day out with the Cubs this weekend - feel a bit sorry for poor Daddy since it is also Father's Day and the climbing trip meant no breakfast in bed or day off from regular Fathering Duties for him. But it was a good day. Blisteringly hot (I will be peeling all my skin off in the next few days) and beautiful. Scouting AGM Bake Off

I love the Bake Off! This years theme was Summer so I made a Sandcastle Cake. It was loads of fun to make - even if it did take the better part of 4 hours to do - and came a very respectable 2nd in the adult competition. The first place was bloody good too, we had three slices if it between us. Well deserved. Getting my bake on for the bake off this Monday! #13thLancaster #Scouts AGM & #BakeOff - #beavers #cubs #cakes #baking A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 10, 2017 at 8:10am PDT I got a second in tonight #BakeOff at the #Scouts AGM tonight with my Sand castle #cake A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 12, 2017 at 12:50pm PDT The kids entered cakes too. Tom made a rainbow topped sponge cake and Jack made some sandy topped mini chocolate cakes. Both got runners up prizes and Tom's best mate came first. Party Ring Cupcakes

There is a Beaver camp this weekend so it's baking time again for me. This time - since it would be rude not to - I have been using Fox's Biscuits in my baking. Party Ring Cupcakes. Dead easy, loads of fun, and very tasty. Have a good camp Beavers! Party Ring Cupcakes! Ready for camp tomorrow. #baking #cakes #cupcakes #scouts #beavers #foxsbiscuits A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 8, 2017 at 12:43pm PDT Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. Growing Things

The two big lads have come home with stuff to grow recently. Jack has a pot with potatoes in, and Tom came home with a tomato plant and some bean sprouts. The potatoes have started to grow and are looking promising (I just hope they don't get "got" by the slugs like last years bean plant) but Tom's tomato is doing nothing. Hubby thinks maybe he planted it too deep - I'm wondering if there is even anything in there. The bean sprouts have gone mental though! Not that Tom has shown any interest in trying to eat them. Still..... you have to try these things! #plantwatch Son1 has a spud that's starting to grow! Son2 has a tomato that's not showing much sign of life yet and bean sprouts that have gone a bit mental! #beavers #cubs #scouts #gardening A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 6, 2017 at 1:47am PDT Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. Unicorn Theives

How do I spend my Saturdays when we don't have swimming lessons to go to? Well I try to get a little peace and quiet on my own to do some of my college work. Jack & Tom are fine with this because it means they can plug into their Kindles and tune out the world in favour of watching other people play computer sames on YouTube. George and Fred however, they need to know exactly where I am and what I am doing. George came for frequent hugs, Fred even thought to being me a bottle of water to drink (he'll make someone an awesome husband one day, little sweetie), and then they found my Unicorns. And that was it. They camped out on my bed and any thought of homework drifted out of the window.# Love those boys of mine! They've taken over my bed and stolen my unicorns!!! #unicorn #sons #parenting A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 3, 2017 at 7:27am PDT Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. Tom turns 7!

This was hard for me. I had to leave the house just after 5am today to get to work. It meant I could finish be half 2 and be home before 4pm, but it's the first time I haven't been there to wish one of my babies a happy birthday when they've woken up. The first time I haven't been there while they opened their presents. And it's left a horrible feeling in my gut. But I think he's had a nice day - after all it wasn't cancelled following a threat to that manner yesterday from Daddy when he found out Tom had written a very naughty word on one of my degree canvases so he should be grateful for that if nothing else. We went to the cinema tonight, myself, the birthday boy, Jack and George. Fred is still too small for anything that isn't a cartoon and Daddy stayed home with him. Despite the photo of Minions it was actually the last (allegedly) instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (and not Wonder Woman either, boo!) which is what Tom had cho

Cake Fail!

I hope Tom will forgive me for this travesty of a cake. Star Wars fans - and bakers - the world over will boo and hiss this pathetic attempt at a Death Star Cake. In my defence, this is the first round cake I have ever baked. I was very limited on time (working full time now remember, and a 6am start at work on friday meant getting up at 4:40am and getting to bed very early the previous night - when I should have been putting a great deal of creativity into this cake....) and it was blisteringly hot which just buggered up my fondant icing until it was almost unusable. I fully expect Tom to cry when he sees it, while the other boys laugh at this sad offering. Oh dear.... Bad Mummy! Hahaha! #nailedit DEATH STAR CAKE FAIL! I don't think I'm good at round cakes, or tight time frames, or decorating in the heat with no space to move. #starwars #baking #cake #fail A post shared by Charlie Walker (@mummawalker) on Jun 1, 2017 at 12:25pm PDT Facebook has chang
