Joules.com - Kids Wear Review

My kids LOVE clothes. Jack is especially bothered about what he wears, being 5 going on 16. So they were very excited when  I had the chance to review some lovely boys clothes  from joules.  I love their stuff! It's practical and fun (take a look at the " About " section of their web site for a fun tale of Bright Pink Wellies!) Personally I was heartbroken to see they don't currently have a maternity wear section (come on Joules, a maternity range from you would be LOVELY!) but the kids jumped all over it: If I couldn't wear any of the clothes.... they could! And who could blame them? The kids range is just soooo lovely! My older two boys had no problems finding clothes that suited their own individual styles, and my heart melted when I delved into the baby and toddler clothing sections! Having three boys and no girls (yet) I spend most of my time browsing the boys clothes section - but I have looked at the girls ranges too and they have the prettiest things for

Update at 15w1d

I've been quiet for a while on here. I've not meant to be. I've been tired, sick, hormonal, and the rest of it too. I've only gone back to work today and was met with concern and offers to reduce my hours during the preg if I felt things were getting on top of me. I declined, going to work is the only rest I get with 3 kids at home! But it's nice to know the option is there if I need it later. So let me catch you all up! I'm 15 weeks ( and a day ) now. Next week I get to see the midwife again and should hopefully get to listen to baby's heartbeat! The kids are getting more and more excited. Jack and Tom are convinced that Bean is a boy and refer to 'him' as Fred, Jack just HAS to cuddle and kiss my belly daily, Tom likes to try ticking the baby and claims he can hear Fred talking to him if he presses his ear to my tummy.  Georgie just keeps trying to FIND the baby, frequently lifting up my tops or climbing under the skirt of my dress calling "

Bumpdate @ 15 Weeks

Still being a bit sick I've decided to go back to work tomorrow. A week at home with the kids was enough for me to think that being at work is far far more restful that trying to calm them down, haha! Although they are back to school and nursery tomorrow too. I am actually quite a lot better. The medication I was given seems to have done the trick and that has made me feel better. I'm still being sick some mornings but it's nothing like as bad as it was. And best of all my sinuses seem to have sorted them selves out at long last! I was hoping to have heard from the hospital about my consultant appointment by now, I should be going between 14 and 16 weeks but haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully I'll get a letter in the next few days. Here's what Fertility Friend says about baby this week: Fine hair called lanugo covers your baby, who now measures about 4.3 to 4.6 inches (10.8 to 11.6cm) from crown to rump and weighs about 2.8 ou

NEW CAR!

OOoooooooOoooo! I am SOOOO excited! This is my "new" car! It's a 2008 Ford Galaxy Zetec which has been paid for with a combination of loans (hand outs) from my folks and the hard fought for (by my hubby) insurance money from the Mitsubishi. My Dad played a blinder with the negotiations and got the price down far enough for me to able to pay for the increase in my insurance, and my tax disk out of my change and STILL have a little left over to stash away for any future repairs / next years insurance. I've done my research I think that no matter how much I love the VW Caravelle they are beyond my price range, so the Galaxy (as a close second choice) is the car for us! It has 7 seats and still enough boot space for my pram and shopping with all the seats up, which equates to a reasonable amount of crumple-zone should anyone else run into the back of me when I have a car full of kids! The back row of seats are proper seats, not little uncomfortable flappy efforts

The Lego Movie!

Yesterday I took Jack & Tom to see the Lego Movie in 3D!  Poor hubby was gutted to be left out of this little trip but Georgie is too young and someone had to stay home with him (sorry, Hubs, we'll get it on DVD so you can watch it too!) To be honest I was dreading this. Jack had only been to the cinema once and that was with school. Tom has never been before. I was worried about them messing about, chattering, running around..... I had promised the boys this trip out some weeks ago but that was before I got ill and now that I am poorly I was more worried than ever about going alone with them. BUT this was the only chance I was going to have to take them so I dosed up and set off with them on the bus for a Sunday Adventure! We made an afternoon of it, the bus meant that we were in town almost an hour before the movie started (Sunday buses are one a hour so it was over early, or miss the start), I treated the kids to a McDonald's lunch where they got a Lego Movie 3D cu

Bumpdate @ 14 Weeks

A quiet and poorly week. I'm still off work sick at the moment, although I have been off to see the doctor. She has given me some more medication to help me through and it seems to be working better. I have also discovered that I have been misusing my sinus spray and that may be impacting on my health too. Long story short, over use of these nasal decongestant sprays can cause rebound congestion and lead to an addiction of sorts. You get to the stage where you cannot clear your sinuses without the spray, but its over use of the spray causing worse congestion, leading you too use it even more etc etc... So I am going "cold turkey" which is leading to sleepless nights (due to not being able to breathe well) and added sickness in the morning when my stomach rejects all the mucus that has slipped down my throat during the night. Not nice! But hopefully short term, I should be over it within a week.  Baby Bean, however, is doing fine! The doctor actually gav

Magic & Mischief - Part 4

I was hoping to get Jack to sing some of these songs and let me video him, but he's been a bit shy lately. If he changes his mind I'll add it on later. I found some great Pirate songs that Jack could use in school here:  http://sunflowerstorytime.com Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.   You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. A Quiet Valentines - Perfect!

We don't to "Date Night", Valentines or not. We don't have a baby sitter for a start (strangely hard to come by when you have 3 kids under 6), and even if we did, we have become people who like to be at home. By the time the kids are in bed we don't really have the energy to go out anyway! Last time my Hubby took me to the cinema I fell asleep, and we both resent paying over the odds for food and drink at bars and restaurants when we could have it at home for half the price or less. That doesn't mean we're not romantic though, in our own way. We buy each other cards. (I still get cards of my dad. Which seems a little creepy now I'm 34... but he wont stop in case I "don't get any"). I get them for my boys too though, and a little sweet treat. This year they have small bag of chocolate luv bugs each. We buy each other gifts, but not cuddly toys, hearts and flowers (ok, sometimes I get flowers) it's usually DVDs or games - mor

Constipation - because having a baby is glamorous!

I'm trying really hard not to be a moaning pregnant mum. You all know how much we've wanted this baby and seen what I've done to get to this point. But no matter how much this baby is loved and wanted..... I'm still not well! You've probably guessed from my last post that I am suffering some of the less glamorous side effects of pregnancy. And it's really getting me down. So be prepared for a TMI post - or simply come back in a week or two when I should be feeling better! My constipation is NOT easing up. I'm "going" only once or twice a week, and the Fybogel the pharmacist gave me hasn't made any difference other than making me feel more bloated. Which is the last thing I need! I am at the stage where I feel like I can't eat any more. When I bend over I fell sick, or I actually am sick. I'm massively bloated, I look like I'm at the start of my 3rd Tri, not my 2nd. My breath smells. Moving around is uncomfortable. Sitting is u

My Advice to a New Mum

I'm in my 2nd Trimester now with my 4th baby. I'm already starting to think about all the things I will need to get and need to do when baby is here and I'm a "New Mum" again. When I was a first time mum I got so much conflicting advice that I simply didn't know where to turn most of the time. The truth of it is every new mum and new baby is different so not everyone's advice is right for everyone else. But this is what has worked for me. Before baby arrives:  Save time & money by bagging a bargain on top brands available for free home delivery such as maxi-cosi items from Argos . Asking for Argos vouchers as babyshower gifts is a great way to get all the things you need (we do). This is what's on my list of must-haves for the first few weeks.  Travel System, or separate pram & car seat  Moses basket & stand  3 bedding bails  2 nice, warm blankets  Breast pump, bottles & steriliser.  Reusable cloth nappies & nappy bu

Pollocks in the bathroom.

Can you believe this bathroom STILL isn't finished yet??? Next month it will have been a YEAR since Hubby started work on it. He is now on with the tiling though. This is a slow job he tells me. Although, since last month he has managed to tile one wall from the bath tub almost to the ceiling (it's a funny shape where the walls meets the ceiling so that's being held off for now), half way up the wall on the long side of the tub, and almost up to the window at the foot of the tub. He has spent the last two days cutting tiles to size. There has been much swearing. I've tried to keep out of the way, as have the kids, but it's only a small house and sound travels. On Sunday Tom informed me that little Georgie had said "bollocks". I can think of only one place my 22m old heard that word! Tom then proceeded to chant "pollocks pollocks pollocks" (he likes to play games where he changes the first sound in a word) and when Jack asked what he was sayi

I was supposed to feel better in 2nd Tri!

I'm not well. I've missed two days of work already and not even felt up to working from home in an attempt to not get behind with my work, which isn't like me. I love my job. I've not been able to get a docs apt until tomorrow as well (darned weekends getting in the way!) I have a feeling that I'm going to be told that I'm pregnant with 3 kids at home, I'm bound to feel tired and ill, and that's probably a big part of it. But I am ill on top of all that, I'm sure I am. It's my guts. I've never had the healthiest of guts, and when I'm pregnant I suffer worse with it. I went to the pharmacist a little over a week ago who have me fibergel  to help me "go" but after more than 7 days of taking it twice a day I'm not seeing any real change. I'm terribly bloated, uncomfortable all the time, not eating properly because I feel full all the time. It's causing a real drop in my energy levels which them makes me moody an

Bumpdate @ 13 weeks

Oooooo! 13 weeks! That makes my officially into my Second Trimester, a third of the way through this pregnancy! So as I enter my 14th Week of Pregnancy this is what Fertility Friend has to say: Your baby measures about 3.2 to 3.5 inches (8 to 9cm) from crown to rump and weighs about 0.9 ounces (25g). Your baby is now nourished by the placenta. His face is developing and his cheeks and the bridge of his nose are appearing. His ears are moving from the sides of his neck to higher on his head and his eyes are moving closer together. Your baby's external genitals are now distinct and may be recognized on an ultrasound. Your baby will move away from stimuli near your tummy, such as noise and light. Your baby's eyebrows have formed and a small amount of hair, called lanugo, has appeared all over his body. Lanugo, which will be shed before birth and replaced with the hairs with which your baby will be born, is thought to have a protective function. Insulin is present i

Tom's Cough

Tom, clearly shattered from coughing all night, but still having fun Poor Tom has had a cough for ages. Sometimes it's not too bad, sometimes we think it's cleared up.... and then he has a few really rough nights where he coughs all night until he's sick. The circles under his eyes betray just how much his sleep has been disrupted. He got sent home from nursery last week because he'd coughed himself into a state running about with his friends, and burst into tears. So I got him booked into the Doctors. I should have done it weeks ago, but as soon as we've said "let's book him in" the cough stopped. For a few days. But enough is enough so I took him regardless of having a few quiet days. The lady doctor we saw - not our regular doctor but a very nice one - had a good listen to his lungs and declared them clear of any infection. She asked if there was a history of asthma in the family, and there isn't to the best of my knowledge. She also ask

Magic & Mischief - Part 3

For the IT part of his Creative Homework Jack chose to use a computer art program to create a fantasy world. He's made two pictures: The first one is a fab "red castle with a moat and a knight who is fighting a big red dragon" Knight defending his castle from the Red Dragon by Jack Walker And the second one is of the sea with a "huge sea monster covered in seaweed, and a super hero with an electric sword" Seamonster Vs Super Hero with Electric Sword by Jack Walker I have to say I quite like them!! He chose to draw them on my iPad with the Cbeebies Playtime App ( which you can get here ) and I printed them out for him to take to school. We're putting the finishing touches to the Pirate Ship, and Jack is learning some Pirate Songs. I'll share those with you next week! Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views
