Viable!!!!

Wow! I can't believe  haven't posted on here for nearly 3 weeks. I can't believe I am 24 weeks pregnant, and viable! ( Basics on viability ) It's been a busy time. The Easter Holidays took up a massive amount of my time, and Georgie turned 2 as well which means he's had his first settling in day at nursery. We've had visits from family too. It's as though I have blinked and missed 3 weeks! To be honest, there isn't much to report on the pregnancy front. I don't see my midwife for over a week, and it's another 4 weeks until my scan and GD clinic. I'm just plodding along. I'm getting noticeably bigger though, and now that the weather is getting warmer and I'm not always wrapped up in my coat when I go out people are starting to notice. Some of the teachers at Jack's school have come over and congratulated us, one of my neighbours caught up with me this morning and tentatively asked if I was pregnant again (she knew a while back th

Kate's Singer

This seems to have been the week for family visits! Today my mother-in-law and fella came to visit. Earlier in the week we'd had an old Singer sewing machine delivered that she had ordered off a lady in Ulverston. Having it delivered here (I assume) was considerably cheaper than having taken directly to their's, plus the added bonus of spending the afternoon with the grandkids. Again the issue of our house being " A Squash & A Squeeze " came about and we ventured off to Cottams Field and the Fun Factory (aka Brewsters) to allow the kids some run-around time while we adults had a chat. I think the kids have had a real kick out of all the visitors we've had lately, and all the trips to various play areas. It's getting expensive now though so I'm extra glad that the sun seems to have found it's way to Lancaster. I'm hoping it sticks around! I could do with a few freebie days at the locals parks! Bumpdate @ 24 Weeks

It's "V" Day! This is a MASSIVE milestone! 24 weeks pregnant is considered "viable" which basically means that now, should anything horrible happen to me or baby that meant I went into labour early or labour had to be induced, then there is a good chance that - with medical assistance - baby would survive! Prior to this point anything like that wouldn't be helped as the baby would not be considered likely to live even with medical help.  Biiiiiiiig sigh of relief!  Now I feel like I can start to buy things for baby, and for myself for the hospital. I am eyeing up pretty new holdalls since the suitcase I have used in the past is getting a bit tatty, and I have little else to spend money on once the nesting kicks in. I think I'll choose a nice, pretty bag, and slowly over the next few weeks start to buy bits'n'bobs to go in it (like maternity pads, travel sized toiletries etc). I'm still getting loads

Georgie's "Settling In" Day

I admit I have been very nervous about this. George is such a mummy's lad. He's all snuggles and cuddles and loves for me, comes bursting into our bedroom and launches himself at me every morning, cries when I go to work, and knocks me off my feet with loves when I get home. How was he ever going to cope with being left at nursery? Well.... shows how much I know. First off, when I dropped Tom off at his nursery (only the next room to George's, they'll have lunch together) George shot in thinking that's where he was going too, and had to be dragged out crying! He sulked with me the whole time we dropped Jack off at school because he thought I'd lied about him going to nursery that day! We went for the morning, the two of us. The idea being that I sit with him (or just in the same room) while he gets to know the place, the toys, the other kids, the staff. And slowly get him accustomed to the new place and people. Then slowly remove myself, perhaps over a few

Visit from Cousin Harry

It's back to school today for Jack. And not a moment too soon! I love that kid sooooo much, but he needs a LOT of entertaining, and I struggle to keep up with him now I'm pregnant. I felt a little bad about him going back today though, because today is the day that my sister-in-law Amy came to visit, with my father-in-law, his missus, and little Harry! It's a bit cramped in our house with 3 extra adults, and even though it was just 3 kids with Tom, Georgie and Harry, it felt like more because of the excitement of visitors. We took the opportunity to head up to Giggles  again for the afternoon. The kids loved it! Harry is 5-6 months younger than Georgie, but bigger so they look the same sort of age. At one point Amy was in the play area with them and someone asked her if they were twins! Tom enjoyed being the "biggest kid" for a change too, he helped George get right to the top of the play area and wave to us from a big pod with a window in it, and played so

Bumpdate @ 23 Weeks

Massive kicks! I don't have a whole lot to report really this week. We've been crazy busy with the kids because of the Easter Holidays, and all the noise and activity must have been lulling baby to sleep all day becuase no sooner have I settled down with my feet up in the evening, or crawled into bed, then Baby Bean starts doing star jumps and cartwheels in my belly! Hubby is feeling the kicks really strongly now, and I can see my belly move with the force of them if I happen to be watching at the right moment. It's all starting to feel very real now. Even Jack and Tom have felt baby move, Georgie is still a bit young to really understand it be we're trying to keep him included in the whole Pregnancy Experience! Here's what Fertility Friend says about baby this week: Your baby is now about 8.4 inches from crown to rump (21cm) and weighs about 1.2 pounds (530g). Your baby's face and body now look more like a full-term

Easter Weekend!

We must be mad, the Hubby and I. After the kids were all settled in bed on Saturday night, we started to get the Easter eggs laid out for them, and to fill the plastic eggs with treats for their egg hunt. At this point we realised that we had no idea where their little green felt basket was that they have used in previous years. It wasn't where we thought it was, and we couldn't see it anywhere. So we thought we would just "knock together" some little bags instead. One for each boy. It seemed like such a simple and easy solution.... I mean, it's not like I've never made bags out of felt before, any they din't need to be amazing quality because they are only for the egg hunt the next day. But that was before they got complicated. We couldn't agree in a handle to start with. I won the argument with a single strap going over the top of the bag, ideal to carry on one arm, and more importantly, QUICKER than two. The I had the amazing suggestion of app

Sunny Easter Holidays

We've been very lucky this Easter I think. The weather has been good many more days than it hasn't. Which means one thing..... PLAYING OUTSIDE! And we've done loads of it! Afternoons in the locals parks having picnics, playing, and meeting friends. Hunting for bugs and creepy crawlies in the back garden (and a surprisingly philosophical conversation following the accidental murder of a snail). I made of point of making sure we saw their friends Orrin & Brodie twice over the holidays too since they are changing schools and wont be in Jack's class or Tom's nursery after Easter. We've had some indoor fun too. My Mum took them to some indoor play areas while I was at work, and we had a good play at Giggles with Orrin, Brodie and family too. Georgie & Dora Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money fr

Bumpdate @ 22 Weeks

Back at the GD Clinic GD clinic was ok. My BP is good, no probs with my blood sugars, even saw the demon consultant and she was pleasant with me for once. She couldn't give me an induction date yet but did at least explain why she couldn't. They set the induction date by the rate of the babies excess growth, and as that can fluctuate wildy at this stage there would be no point setting a date as it could easily change drastically. At 30-32 weeks the growth is more stable and they can book then. Reasonable I suppose. I'm back on May 21st for growth scan and clinic (26 weeks), with the usual instructions to call if my blood sugars go mental in the meantime. I have the MW on 7th May too. So it's quiet for the rest of this month now. Here's what Fertility Friend says about baby this week: Your baby now weighs almost 1 lb (450g) and measures about 8 inches (20cm) from crown to rump. She is becoming plumper as her fat is being laid d

Georgie's 2nd Birthday!

We've never really done much for our kids 2nd birthdays. No party for example. Not because we're mean.... but because there seems little point. The 1st birthday is a big do, family coming over from all over and such. And by the time they are 3 they have a few little friends they can invite to something that they've met through nursery and play group etc. But at 2 years old there's not much going on socially - they are still the centre of their own little uiniverse. So we do something low key. For Georgie's birthday - since it's in the Easter Holidays this year - I took the kids to the indoor play centre in town called The Zone . We met up with a friend of mine and her two lads - both a bit older than my boys - and just let the kids play while we had a catch up over some lunch. George got the chance to go and play with the bigger kids for the first time instead of  being confined to the toddler area. It's not recommended that he goes in with the big ki

Second GD Clinic

At least I got to this appointment on time. I managed mess up my pee sample though... How dumb is this? I got to the hospital practically peeing my pants to make sure I could provide a sample. Got a tube from reception, over filled it, tried to tip some down the loo, slipped and dumped the lot! Could not squeeze out another drip! Doh! Still, no big deal. I just need to make sure I get one to the midwife on my next visit. Clinic went ok. First off I saw Jackie the midwife who checked my blood pressure, which was fine. Then I was visited by the Mighty Consultant herself, who admitted my bloods were all fine still. She doubts I can maintain it though because I am "much older" than last time (2 years!!!) so I need to keep testing.  I asked about arranging my induction now but she explained that they can't do that since at this stage the baby's rate of growth is too fluid. It would be more stable at 30-32 weeks and then they can judge how soon to deliver baby. Booking

George and The Big Boy Bed

It's that time again.  Time to move my youngest child out of the nursery and into the Big Boy Room.  We've moved each of the lads on their 2nd Birthdays, and made it a part of their birthday. Kind of a "Congratulations, you're 2 now. No longer a baby. Welcome to your new Big Kid Bed!" Mainly because by the time each of them is 2 there's a younger sibling either on the way or here already, and I want the older child settled before the newbie needs the cot. Then we can avoid the whole "Baby stole my bed!" drama. With George we are starting a few days early. Not many! His first night in his new bed was Tuesday, and his birthday is Friday. I moved it up because it's the Easter Holidays, and Georgie is a screamer come bedtime, and it made sense to get him moved during the holidays instead of in term time so that he didn't disrupt Jack & Tom too much in the night while they had school and nursery to go to the next day. It's more tha

Cinema - Again! Lego Movie - Again! AWESOME!

We've been to see the Lego Movie for a second time...... It's Jack's (belated) birthday treat that he chose instead of having a party. But with my work hours, his jujitsu class after school, other parents schedules, going away for the wedding etc it's taken this long to get round to going. I took Jack & Tom. Georgie and Mark once again stayed at home. We picked up Jack's friend - also called Jack - and his mum from down the hill, and met Orrin and his dad in town. Orrin's family are in the process of moving so his dad stopped for a bit then had to dash off and get stuff done. We went to McDonalds and fed their faces, then popped into the pound shop for some sweeties and fruit-shoots (sooo much better value for money that cinema pic-n-mix and cup drinks). We had a great time in the cinema though, kids sat through the film good as gold even though they'd all but one already seen it. They were high as kites by the time we came out though (all the pound

Wedding Suits

This weekend we were invited to a wedding. The beautiful bride is my Hubby's (sort of) step sister, so there was a big chunk of his side of the family there. Good times had by all, and a lovely bonus in my brother-in-law and missus staying in the same hotel as us. She's pregnant too, just 3 days ahead of us with their 2nd child. We stayed at a Premier Inn this time over at Brighouse, Hudderfield (Hudddersfield North) and I think it's safe to say the kids and I are sold on them! Even if we did all wind up sharing a room. All 5 of us plus bump (the kids are no where near old enough to be in a room without us yet). Luckily the room was MASSIVE being a proper family room. And the breakfast was excellent too. There was no need to go and hunt down any lunch afterwards! My mother-in-law had bought suits for my boys and had them sent over to us. I must get the website link to share with you. The lads looked adorable! It's such a shame they wont get another chance to wear th

Eating Naughty Stuff The scan was GREAT! Baby was a bit naughty and wouldn't play to start with (which meant I had to go for a 20 min walk and a drink, then come and get re-scanned) but the upshot of it was that baby is bob-on for 20 weeks and 2 days. Just what I wanted to hear! This weekend we're at a family wedding, which is interesting from a pregnancy point of view. My bump is almost twice the size of my sister-in-laws, who is due 3 days before me (although she is slimmer and only on her 2nd child, as apposed to be being chunky and on my 4th baby while the other 3 were all over 9 1/2 lb!). I did a HUGE amount of driving too, which caused baby to give me a massive kicking attack on a regular basis (doesn't like me sitting down too long, and neither does my sciatica).  We stayed at a hotel with the kids, sharing a room with all of them. I'm so glad the bed was comfy! I broke the pregnancy rules at breakfast by drinking way too much co

Our 20 Week Scan!

There is a longer post on my Pregnancy Blog about today's appointment, but for here I would like to share our scan photos! I am totally in love with my little baba! Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.   You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. The 20 Week Scan Appointment (with pics)

This almost when HORRIBLY HORRIBLY wrong! I have been telling myself for WEEKS that today's appointment was at 10:30 am. I arranged for my mum to mind the kids, Hubby arranged to go into work late, I planned the route to the hospital and contingency plans for if/when we couldn't get parked at the hospital. All was going according to plan! Until we had done a tour of the hospital car park and (unsurprisingly) failed to find a parking space. I drop off to the over-flow car park in town and Hubby says "It is 10:30, your appointment, isn't it?" and I answered with full confidence and swagger and referred him to the letter in my Green Notes. Which he looked at. And read 10:00. 5  MINS TIME AND WE'RE STUCK IN TRAFFIC WITH A 10 MINS WALK FROM THE CAR PARK IF WE FIND A SPACE THERE! Luckily the letter has a phone number on, I chuck my phone at him and ask that he rings them, lets them know we ARE on our way, and the traffic starts to move. No one answers but he c
