Happy Halloween Everyone!

Skally-Wag, Bat Boy & Mummy Originally uploaded by chiggster I love halloween! Lets face it, I love an excuse to dress my kids (and me) up! So here's my kids, Jack as a skeleton and Tom as a bat, just before setting off for a party at Stefs (Adam & Conner's dad). I wasn't sure if grown-ups were dressing up or not, so I opted for a black outfit with hat and cape figuring I could lose the accessories if I was the only one. I wasn't though! Yay!!! We had a nice time at the party. Jack got on well with the other kids (made good friends with a little devil) and Tom was ok so long as I holding him (mummys boy, ahhhh) I have a few snaps on flickr of the other kids in their costumes too. We missed the trick-or-treating though coz Mark wanted us home for tea (he was doing the roast) but to be fair I think Jack might still be a bit young and as Tom is already growing out of his 6-9 month bat-suit I'd have worried about him getting cold where the legs gapped.

Weclome to Baby Ben! 28/10/10

Bob & Rach's baby boy - 28/10/10 Originally uploaded by chiggster I got a call on the 27th, about 9.45pm. No one ever calls us that late so me and Mark glanced at each other, holding our breaths for a moment "Ooooh!" we both said. I was closest to the phone and dived on it. 2 babies were due - my step brother & wifes, and my brother in laws & gfs. So it could be my mum to say Antoni and Hadil had had their baby, or it could be Bob or Rach to say Bean was on the way. It was Rach! She asked me if what she's just experienced had been her "show" and explained what had happened. I said it sounded like it.... her voice was trembling and we chatted for a short while while she caught her breath. She wasn't having any noticeable contractions, and it wasn't a bloody show so we guessed there was plenty of time to go. She went to try to get some sleep. I spoke to her again around 1pm the next day. The rest of her plug had come away whi

Had a dream I won the lotto...

...which is unlikely as I don't play. But the rest of the dream was made up of me searching for the ideal car & house! So today I thought I'd do just that. And maybe put a quid on! I think this is the car we'll be needing for us, our 2 kids (plus 2 more one day) and the cat AND all our stuff: Transporter Shuttle . One day when we have 4 kids and we need one of these taxis they'll be 2nd hand & cheaper! About 5+ years time.... Houses! OOooo! Now I LOVE sites like Rightmove and dreaming of the house I might own one day. These are the sort of thing I dream of, but they'll take that lotto win or Mark getting a good job sharpish coz again in 5 years time we'll need to upsize! Can't get enough mortgage on my part time wage :0(

Jack's first go at baking

Polar Bears! Originally uploaded by chiggster He's growing up fast my eldest boy! I've been doing a fair bit of baking lately, and this time he wanted to know what mummy was doing. The familiar call of "Jack too!" as I wandered into the kitchen swayed me. "Come on then," I sighed with a smile and pulled up the foot stool so he could reach the counter top. He dusted my baking sheets with flour - loving the clouds he made when he clapped his hands. He had a go at using the rolling pin too. But the best bit was cutting out the shapes! I let him choose which shapes we were going to have. I'd made enough dough for 3 dozen cookies so there was plenty to play with. He chose the boy, girl and teddy bear cutters for the first batch. Fior the rest he wanted stars (I have 3 styles of star and he likes sets of things). He did really well at cutting the shapes too. We don't have any play-doh or plastercine for him so he's not cut shapes before.

No internet - again

Grrrr at BT! We've had no internet since Thu until late last night. Very annoying! And things have been happening so I've wanted to get online! Tom is now a staggering 17lb 10oz (about 8k) - at the same age Jack was 15lb 14oz and I thought he was big. But, like Jack, he's not fat. He's just really long and really solid. He no longer fits in the crib in our room. He kept bashing his head on the top so we've had to move him into the big cot-bed in the nursery room. Typically, he got ill almost straight after so we've had a few nights of fetching him in and out of our room and our bed trying to settle him (frankly, me and Mark are both shattered and are really looking forward to a good nights sleep!) Jack's progressing with his talking too! He spoke to his Pape on the phone the other night, including "I love Pape" which almost brought my poor old dad to tears. I think he appreciated it as an early birthday present from his eldest grandson. I&#
The first thing I want to share is my cake! I baked a Sticky Date Cake (thanks Delia) for Hubby's birthday. I've never done one before and I was a little worried it might be awful! But.... it is the BEST cake I have ever made! So rich, so moist, soooooo tasty! My hubby likes it and even son number one had had a couple of helpings. It's MASSIVE though. This photo is only half of the cake. Luckily it'll keep for a while in my air-tight cake tin (although it didn't all fit, even in my biggest tin AFTER we'd had some!) and actually improves with age! I'm pondering making a gift of some cake (a fresh one, not this one) for my folks. Not my in-laws coz my father-in-law does Christmas cakes and I a) don't want to tred on toes and b) don't want people to get sick of cake! I have just bought a book on cookies though, so maybe (if I get some practice in first - bye bye diet) I'll make cookies for a few people? No promises though. They might be rubbis

Tom is 4 months old!

It's shocking how fast time passes. Tom is already 4 months old. In 4 months time I'll be back at work. It'll still feel too soon. Still, in the meantime I am enjoying every day I spend with my boys! I love my boys! One of the best things in all the world (and forgive me if I have said it before, but it's true) is simply sitting on the sofa with Tom on my knee, and Jack snuggled up next to me with my arm round him, while we settle in to watch a DVD. It means I get to cuddle both my boys at the same time for a while. Jack is still the doting big brother. Everything is "Tom!" all the time. "Tom's Toy" or "Tom's Tea", he laughs himself silly if Tom smiles at him, and then Tom laughs back too. It's SO sweet! He loves to play with the baby toys too - and at the same time Tom is eyeing up everything of Jacks! Tom's getting to be so big too. He's now in 6-9 month baby clothes and has been for a couple of weeks. He's h

My crafting...

I'm behind with my crafting posts!!! Here's an update :oD Sep 21, '10      I've been away from the blog for a while, but I am still still working hard! I have been making more bags. I have finally discovered Interfacing too. I wish I had known about it when I made that small black and white bag because it wouldn't be so floppy. I'll have to make another one some time soon. I found out because I treated myself to a pack of bag patterns, and it talked about interfacing so I ventured out to find out what it was, and buy some. I am completely sold on the stuff now and I think I'll be stocking up on different weights next time I'm in the craft shop. These are the bags I have made so far: Dotty Bag One handle is longer than the other, and you thread the longer one through the smaller one to close the bag. It's not very big, it'll hold a few items like your purse, phone, keys and lippy. Ideal for nipping out, or a  evening out. Not very prac
