Schwartz 2-in-1 Recipe Mixes Review (Part 5)

So the lovely people over at Schwartz  (via Mumsnet) have asked me to do a product test of these 2-in-1 Recipe Mixes for chicken. It's ideal because we LOVE chicken in this house and I'd love to try new ways of serving it to my kids that are quick and easy, and maybe even let them help!

Before I start let me say that all views and opinions in this review are my own. I have not been paid to make this review, but I have been given these 5 packets for free.

Review 5: Garlic & herb crunchy chicken bites + cheese & chive dip

>> Product Link <<

This is the one my Hubby has been waiting for! He LOVES cheese and he LOVES dip! I hope it lives up to his expectations...

What it says on the packet:

This says it serves 4 and takes just 20 minutes to prepare. That sounds PERFECT for a busy mum with hungry kids after school. Just what we need!

Cooking:

The prep for this was (again) incredibly simple. I didn't need to buy in anything special or additional to what was already in my kitchen which is always a bonus. I was thrilled that there was enough of the topping to coat all of my chicken mini fillets, and the dip was wonderfully simple. it looked just like store bought dip!

How did it taste?

I expected my 3yo to not like this very much. He is very anti-crunch. So you can imagine my surprise when he wolfed the lot down! It was all I could do to grab a few seconds video of him eating the chicken and giving his opinion on it before it was all gone! So I think that counts as a good vote. My 5yo has loved all of these so I wasn't too worried about him and true to form he really enjoyed it. My 1yo gave it a good go too, he really enjoyed the dip and ate all of that before trying anything else. I quite like it and the Hubby had no complaints. I can see us buying this one again soon!

Kid rating: 4/5

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
