Well... I did a full day at MM today - first one in ages. And it was ok. The morning was hellish while I turned over in my head what I was going to say to Glenn. After all, by the start od April my own business will be trading properly, and I can't keep taking days off MM to do BH stuff.

At lunch time I bit the bullet. I went and got us both lunch and then sat in Andrea's chair (Andrea's desk faces Glenn, and since she's on holiday it was free).

Here's how I span it:

"I've been offered another job"

Glenn looks up and pauses mid chew

"It's one I can't really turn down, but..."

Glenn swollows"

I'll still be able to work here Mondays and Thursdays to do the ebay and web site stuff"

Glenn sigh and smiles - "Oh, right! So when will this start?"

"April 1st"

"Right... that's a Friday, so you'll be starting your new regeme from the.... 4th?"

"Yep"

"Oh, that's ok, right, yes, mm mmm. Ok then."

So that was easy enough. I think I chose the right lie to tell him. And it covers me all round. I'm still earning (much less, but still earning) while BH takes off, I've not left Glenn in the lurch, and if BH goes tits up, I still have a job!

Hooray!

After that the rest of the day went smoothly. I'm just waiting on my bank details to arrive and I can move onto the next stage. Phew!

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
