Visiting!

It was Tony's 60th at the weekend so Kate had a 'do' for him on the Sat. It's a long journey from home to Kate 'n' Dave's, and since me and Jack hadn't seen my Mum all week we broke the drive up by spending Fri night at her house.

It was past Jack's bed time by the time we'd arrived in Burnley and I was fully expecting him to start yelling when we sat down for tea, but we put his car seat on one of the dinning chairs so he could see us all while we were eating and he was fine. He chuckled and chatted all the way through.

After another three course breakfast - and some Jack 'n' Nanna time - we set off for Jenny's, dropped off Muppet (Fizgig stayed with my mum), and Jack's things, before going over to see the Birthday Boy.

It was nice to see Tony, we'd not seen him since Christmas and he hadn't met Jack before. Kate and Dave put on a really good do. As well as us there was Rachel, Garry & the kids, Jenny, Bob n Rachel, Clare (who has her first baby due on my birthday!) and Joy who'd had her birthday a few days earlier.

Both babies were passed round everyone, with Alex being on his best behaviour, and Jack projectile vomiting on pretty much anyone and everyone who touched him. Bob was more than just a little wary of him by the end of the day! We had a butty buffet for lunch followed by birthday cakes for both celebrants, and jelly with ice cream! Yummy! And a Chinese banquet for tea!

Then we headed back to Jenny's before Jack got too grumpy for being up past his bed time. We're pushing our luck with 2 late nights!

On Sunday we were invited round to Rachel's for lunch before heading off back to Lancashire. While we were there David n Dee popped in to say hello and see the kids.

Jack was trying to grab David's beard like he does his dad's, and got frustrated when he couldn't get a proper grip! Yorkie was mobbed by the two older boys and got some good practice in for when Jack gets bigger - by being a climbing frame and swing all in one for Nicky!

Garry got a cracking video of Jenny playing with Jack and him laughing harder and longer than we've ever known him to! I'm hoping either he or Rachel gets it online for us so we can keep a copy. It's brilliant!

Then it was back home via Mum's for a spot of tea and to pick up Fizzy. Jack was late to bed again and starting to get grumpy, but we had a wonderful time.

Good job we're going back again in a few weeks!

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
