No internet

About 3 weeks ago (I think) I got my MAC code from BT and gave TalkTalk a call asking them to start us up with our free broadband, a chap called Thomas. It was a little late in coming as TalkTalk first called me up on the 17th of March, promising that they would be able to give us free broadband from 11th of April and that they would sort the MAC code with BT. It sounded great so I forked out the £29.99 for the set up, and £16.30 for the first month of the new plan which included UK calls, international calls and the broadband.

This has turned out to be a tissue of lies.

Firstly we had no new internet by April 11th, but as Jack was still pretty much brand new I had other things on my mind and desided to sort it later. When I did get in touch I was told that I had to get the MAC code, TalkTalk could NOT do that for me. Not too much of a problem and eventually I got the code and called back.

My lateness in doing so, however, caused more problems. Apparently because 3 months had passed since I first spoke to Thomas and I had not provided this MAC code he promised to sort our order had been placed three times.... I was told that in order to sort this out they would have to cancel the order and re-place it for me. This would take 15 working days.

I was hacked off, but accepted that there was no choice. I was told we would have internet by Aug 3rd (a sunday, and therefore NOT a working day. Hummm). Aug 3rd came and went and STILL no internet. Not even a set up letter or anything. So I called back. To be told that the cancel had been cancelled and NOT replaced.

I was put back through to sales (who are at least English and oculd therefore understand my complaint unlike the poor buggers in the Indian call centre who simply did not have a good enough grasp of English to be able to help me. Honestly, things like that do nothing for the UKs reputation of being racisit. Anyone will sound like that in this situation!) who told me - get this - there is NO free broadband in this area. That it will be coming 'soon' but they could not say when. And the best bit? I had been lied to about the package. The monthly bill would NOT be £16.30 a month - they DON'T HAVE A PACKAGE AT THAT PRICE! The package I was now expected to pay for was £39.00 a month.

WHAT A CON!!!!!

And what's more, to get my money back for this rip off / con I have to request a playback of the original conversation with Thomas back on March 17th. That is assuming that they have it... and I suspect it will have gone missing.

What a bunch of grasping liers and con merchants!

All of a sudden BTs £15 a month plus line rental looks like a MUCH better option. Screw you TalkTalk!!!!!

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
