Beavers - Hobby Badge

Beaver Scouts - Hobby Badge

Last week the Beavers started up again after the Summer Break and Jack couldn't wait to get back. That Scout Hut is the craziest and loudest place on Earth on the first day back! I swear my ears were ringing for about an hour after I dropped him off! But it was a lot calmer at the end of the meet when I went to collect him again.

There are some big things coming soon with Beavers, the most exciting being the Camp this weekend. His friend Rory is going too this time and he simply cannot wait. It has become THE most important and talked about thing all week.

They were also asked to bring something to the meeting this week. They could try to get their Hobby Badge by bringing in an example of a hobby which they could talk about and demonstrate. Well, Jack has a lot of things he likes like his Jujitsu, cooking, DS and Wii U games and so on. He chose to take in his Lego Minifigures collection. He took his Simpsons Lego Minifigures, and a selection of his own custom Minifigures and talked about how he liked to collect special Minifigures and create his own people which he then used to play games. I leant him my display case to take his chosen figures in.

He has achieved the badge, but they didn't have enough, or had misplaced them hee hee, so he will get it another week, but he was very pleased to have been able to take part especially since he hasn't been Invested yet. That's happening in a couple of weeks or so.

But first... it's Camp this weekend, and the swimming gala next Monday. Exciting times for boys (and their mums)!

Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.

You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. Then you will see my posts and status updates in your notifications. Mumma Walker on Facebook

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
