Weigh In #13

This FitBit has me really inspired! And a friend of mine who lives locally is also looking at increasing her steps and losing a bit of weight. So this week we've been walking! Just around our town (Lancaster, UK). She's lived here pretty much all her life - unlike me who moved here to study - and she knows parts of Lancaster I have never heard of, and all kind of different routes to places too. So we've taken some pretty convoluted paths to well known places.

Take Monday for example. We walked from the Aldclife area of Lancaster all the way to the Ashton Memorial and back again - with a coffee at the Cafe for a treat. The most direct rout on foot is 3 miles there are back. We managed to stretch it to 5.5 miles!

We did something similar on Tuesday. Wednesday it was pouring with rain, and Freddie has a cold, so I didn't want to drag him all over town. Instead I stayed home and worked on the the Wii Fit instead. Thursday we took a shorter walk but still clocked up all our steps and then some. Friday was a Wii Fit day again.

I've done all this walking while carrying Freddie in the sling too, and a rucksack full of stuff. He weighs 16lb now so I'm thinking that's helping my weight loss too. I have averaged out at 5 miles of walking a day. I have earned 44  Weight Watchers "active points" - I get 40 points a day while I'm breastfeeding Freddie so I have earned more than a whole extra days worth of food! And I haven't used it! In fact this week I have only used 1 of my "weeklies" too.

Weigh In:

  • Me: -2lb
  • Hubby: -3lb
  • My total loss since Nov 2013: 52lb
  • This week I earned 44 Active Points - enough for more than a whole days food!!

Things I have learned this week:
  • I am much fitter than I thought
  • Walking is so much more fun with a friend
  • I get more APs from walking than staying in on the Wii FIt, but more "very active" minutes on the WIi Fit. Balance is everything!

Targets for this week:
  • 8-10,000 steps per day Mon-Fri, 5-6000 on weekends
  • Get my 30 mins "very active" daily for at least 4 days this week
  • I have 6lb to lose before Christmas (mini challenge) so anther 2lb+ loss would be great!

Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.

You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. Then you will see my posts and status updates in your notifications. Mumma Walker on Facebook

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
