New Running Shoes

They're here!

I've been as kiddy as one of my kids today at work waiting for confirmation that my new running shoes had arrived. I couldn't wait to get home and try them on.

They take a little getting used to - they feel very different to the walking boosts I'm used to. But I like them.

So this evening, after helping the kids with their homework for a bit and getting them into bed, and went for a wander. I needed to get some steps I'm because my Fitbit was having a problem (think the battery was low / flat and the app didn't pick it up) so I had no log of my steps between 7:45am and 6pm. And I had promised to help out with the Scout Hut again.

I walked to the hut, a bit too shy to try a run or even a jog. But a few of the folk there were supportive and encouraging so I held a bit braver by the time we'd finished. I flicked on my C25K app and selected the beginners "4 weeks to 1 mile" option (I think I'm a bit far off 5k just now) and followed the instructions.

It was only 4 x 45 second bursts of running with plenty of walking in between, but I did it. And it wasn't so bad. I like the gentle introduction idea. It suits me.

They say the first step is the hardest.... Well I've taken it!

Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.

You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. Then you will see my posts and status updates in your notifications. Mumma Walker on Facebook

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
