The day the bird flew in

This isn't the actual bird, I'm not so mean that
I would make it pose for the camera
after the trauma it went through. But it
looked like this young black bird.
It's official. Working is bad for my health. But never ever dull.

The highlight of today was the amount of wildlife that sauntered into our office because we had the door open with it being so hot. Firstly a cat wondered into the office and befriended me - as the only non-dog owner in there at the time - and later (luckily not at the same time) a BIRD flew in and got itself trapped!

This was as close as I got to getting any Fitbit steps in during my work day. Crawling around under the desks (in my Lindy Bop frock and heels) trying to use my cardigan as a net. Me and the MD's daughter, who was also using her cardi as a net. In the end the poor thing got behind the filing cabinets and I had to prod at it with a mop handle until it came out the far end and the other lass popped her cardi over it.

Anyway, it was released and safely back with it's fellow birdies (who had all been screaming for it to come back and flapping about by the window - we almost wound up with a second one) and all without totally freaking out the lady in credit control who "does not do birds". It only took us till half an hour after closing time....

Why can't we just have a normal day?

Facebook has changed it’s policy for posts to Facebook pages like mine. They are only showing posts to a few likers unless I pay to boost the views. Since I don't earn money from my blog (or at least not much, not even enough to buy one posh a coffee a week) I wont be doing that. The best way to make sure you will see my blog posts is to subscribe by email up there on the right. I usually only email once a week and include an invitation to my blog hop so you can share your posts too.

You can also go to my page, hover over the “liked” button and select get notifications. Then you will see my posts and status updates in your notifications. Mumma Walker on Facebook

Recipe: Pigsty Pie

This is one that we made up, although we are far from the first or only people to make a pie using pork or pork mince and call it a Pigsty Pie. So let's just say that this is our version of it. It smells great and reminds me of stuffing at Christmas, making it feel much more "naughty" than it is! This serves four people and it a nice 9 points per serving. You will need these for the mash: 400g potatoes 400g sweet potatoes 4-5 good sized carrots Salt Pepper Nutmeg Simply chop the roots, boil in salted water until tender, and mash! Add salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. The pie filling: 10 sprays low fat cooking spray (e.g. 1 cal) 1/2 lb lean pork mince 2 onions, finely chopped 3 apples, diced 1 leek, chopped 5-6 big mushrooms 2 tbs plain flour 1 tsp sage 1 tsp parsley Salt Pepper 1 vegetable stock cube 1/2 hot water 2 tsp English mustard Fry the onions in the cooking spray until they start to soften, add the mince. Once the meat starts to colour add the apple, leek and mush
