Cala Gran Holiday Park Fleetwood Review

This has to have been the BEST bank holiday weekend we've EVER HAD! As well as going to Sea Life Centre Blackpool and Blackpool Zoo, we stayed at Haven's Cala Gran Caravan Park . It is Perfectly situated for anyone who wants a holiday to Blackpool without having to stay in the heart of the resort with all the hen and stag do's which - lets face it - aren't that family friendly. Cala Gran is in Fleetwood and only 20 minutes away from the prom by car. Perfect! You could even ditch the car and get a tram, which is something I promised the kids we would do next time we go (oh, yes, there will be a next time! It was that good!) We stayed in a luxury 3 bed caravan, ideal for our increasingly large family. The bigger boys shared a twin room, Georgie got a room to himself - the staff there took out one of the twin beds in his room to make room for the travel cot, and we got a nice double room with it's own en suite toilet. It was spacious and clean, had it's own pa

My Birthday at Blackpool Zoo

Do you know one of the awesome things about having young kids? You have a perfectly valid reason to go to the zoo ON YOUR OWN BIRTHDAY without getting funny looks from folk. Seriously, it's a great excuse! Earlier in the holidays I'd asked the kid which zoo they wanted to go to, Blackpool, or Dalton. It's always a tough choice.... Dalton has the lemurs running round free, but Blackpool has elephants, and the spider monkey enclosure where they can - and usually do - come right up close and try to pinch things off you! The boys pondered it for a good while, but in the end they chose Blackpool . They love both zoos equally, but Jack had been to Dalton with school during the summer term. And since we've been over this way anyway it was a perfect fit! As we piled in we chose which animals we each wanted to see the most. For Hubby is always the elephants, Jack wanted to see the penguins, Tom wanted the flamingos, Georgie loves any kid of birds, and tigers, I wanted to see

Sea Life Centre with the Octonauts!

We Love Peso! I'm guessing by now most of you know that I love Blackpool! And so do the kids! Everywhere we've been this summer, like supermarkets, play areas, etc they have been giving away "kids go free" tickets for the Sea Life Centre , and once we saw that the Octonauts were going to be there too the kids were begging to go! It would have been heartless to refuse them! Georgie is getting to the stage now where he does not want to be in his push chair any more. So we thought we'd risk letting him roam free this time! Last time we went (last summer) Georgie was only a few weeks old and in no position to get involved. This time he wanted to be part of EVERYTHING! He was clambering up the sides of the tanks and displays trying to get a closer look at the fish and marine animals, and laughing like mad every time anything moved! Pretending to be at the bottom of the sea! Jack was loving the quiz challenge going round the Centre. He was gutted when mu

Cooking With The Kids #3 - Chicken Drumsticks with BBQ Sauce

It's been a busy few weeks, what with the school holidays and everything. For some reason I had convinced myself there would be loads of time to do cooking with the kids 2-3 times a week. I was kidding myself! With trips away, day trips, and me working almost every day in between to pay for it all there's been hardly any time to cook WITH them (more a case of quickly whip something together before they start eating the furniture!) BUT! I've managed to do SOME! Tom chose Chicken Drumsticks! Which luckily is a nice a quick meal without too much fuss. Perfect for a hungry 3 year old (and his brothers) Chicken Drumsticks with BBQ Sauce Serves: 4 | Prep Time: 10 mins | Cooking Time: 30 mins Ingredients 8 Chicken Drumsticks Oil Salt & Pepper 1 tsbp Paprika 4 tbsp Lemon Juice Sauce: 4 tbsp White Wine Vinegar 4 tbsp Soy Sauce 5 tbsp Ketchup 2 tbsp Soft Brown Sugar 1 tsp English Mustard Powder 1 tsp Paprika 1 pinch Crushed Chill

Asking for Clomid

I went to see the doctor today in the hope that I might be able to get some more clomid , since I was given some after having my first baby and my cycles not returning properly. Sadly she said no. It seems that since I last asked for it back in 2009 the regulations have changed. Why? Because too many people had abused clomid and the sued when things went wrong. The thing with clomid, as my doc explained to me 4 years ago, is that you can only use it for a short time. It does stimulate the ovaries to release eggs, but it also thins the lining of the womb. The longer you take it, the thinner the lining, the less likely a fertilised egg is to be able to implant securely resulting in increased chances of early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. I was told to take it for just 3 cycles, then wait a minimum of one but ideally three cycles to try again. I was lucky and caught on the third cycle. Too many people apparently don't do this and continue taking it with out a break, mis

Testing day!!!

Well..... That's a negative pregnancy test. No doubt about it. Not even a hint of a line, not even an evap. I'm supposedly 17dpo, and on cycle day 32. I do sometimes have 32 day cycles but even if that we're the case I should have had a visit from Aunt Flow by now and she's a no-show. So now I am wondering (but not worrying) about my cycle... Maybe it simply isn't sorted yet. It did take a very long time after having my first. In the end I was given clomid to get my cycles working again. And it worked! We got Tom as a result. I've taked it over with Hubby and this is our plan. If AF still has not turned up after the weekend I am going to get myself an appointment with the doctor and see if they will give me clomid again. Hopefully, because I have had it before, it will just be a formality. I'd prefer not to have to have all the scans again to rule out PCOS and other issues. I was given the all clear last time and I'm not suffering any
